Department

IMPORTANT  The SOAP API entered a limited enhancement phase in Q4 2020. Access to version 1.6 will eventually be deactivated. At this time, there is no end-of-lifecycle date.

This entity describes an Autotask Department. A Department is an association used to manage resources, especially when assigning project tasks. Every resource must be associated with at least one department and have at least one assigned role in that department.

Conditions and requirements

  • Department can now be created and updated. Requires security level permission to access Admin > Features & Settings > Organization or Admin > Resources.
  • Name field cannot be updated for the System Department (Name = Administration).
